Latex is pretty cool stuff when ya think about it. It stretches more than than its naturally toxic rubber cousins, it makes cool sounds, it can be slick or grippy - latex is definitely the rubber for all occasions. It is a natural polymer, and is one of the very
few rubber compounds that is non-toxic in its liquid OR solid state - meaning it can be used safely against skin, even without polymerization!! Now that's some way cool rubber skills! Latex is able to stretch between 400%-1000% of its length, and has the best
"memory" of all rubbers, meaning that it can be stretched more and yet still return to its "natural shape" without distortion.
Latex is naturally translucent (not "see through" but close), and can be tinted very easily. But check this out - when harvesting latex, (yes! latex is harvested from tree sap!) it is collected by cutting the rubber tree's bark.
No chopping down trees! So latex is good for the environment. - yeehaw. Not only is latex comfy, stretchy, less toxic, easily colored and very very funky - its environmentally friendly! Long live latex!
